The National Cadet Corps (NCC) sub-unit at R. R. Mehta College of Science & C. L. Parikh College of Commerce, Palanpur was started in the academic year 2024. Its main aim is to help students develop discipline, leadership skills, and a sense of patriotism. The unit works under the 35 Gujarat Battalion NCC, Palanpur and is led by the NCC Officer Dr. Anil D. Parmar, who guides and trains the cadets.
The NCC unit offers a total vacancy of 50 cadets under Senior Division (SD) and Senior Wing (SW). The program provides students with structured military-style training along with opportunities for personal growth, teamwork, and national service.
Regular training activities form the core of NCC participation. Cadets attend weekly parades, where they are trained in drill, physical fitness, weapon training, map reading, and personality development. These parades instill discipline, confidence, and a sense of responsibility among students.
In addition to institutional training, cadets actively participate in various NCC camps such as: Annual Training Camps (ATC), Combined Annual Training Camps (CATC), Republic Day Camp (RDC-Delhi), Thal Sainik Camp (TSC), Army Attachment Camp (AAC), National Integration Camp (NIC) & Advanced Leadership Camp (ALC), etc. conducted at state and national levels. These camps provide exposure to real-life challenges, adventure activities, and interaction with cadets from different regions of the country.
The NCC unit is also deeply committed to social service and community development. Cadets regularly participate in activities such as cleanliness drives, tree plantation programs, awareness rallies, blood donation campaigns, and disaster relief support. Through these initiatives, students develop a strong sense of civic responsibility and contribute meaningfully to society.
The college provides essential infrastructure and facilities to support NCC training, including adequate open space for parade and drill practice, classrooms for theory sessions, and administrative support for coordination with battalion authorities. Necessary equipment and logistical support are provided to ensure smooth conduct of training and related activities.
Since its establishment, the NCC unit has been playing a vital role in shaping students into disciplined, responsible, and socially aware citizens. It continues to motivate young minds to serve the nation with dedication, integrity, and leadership.
