 BAOU Study Centre

The Study Centre of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Open University (BAOU) in Palanpur is efficiently managed by R. R. Mehta College of Science and C. L. Parikh College of Commerce. Established in 1999, it is one of the largest BAOU study centres in the district.

The centre is ably coordinated by Dr. Y.B. Dabgar along with Co-coordinators Mr. S.M. Chaudhary and Mr. S.R. Dave. It offers a wide range of programmes including 11 Undergraduate (UG), 6 Postgraduate (PG), 22 Diploma, and 31 Certificate courses. The centre also provides CCC, CCC-IN, and CCC+ courses, which are highly beneficial for government job promotions and career advancement.

Students receive timely updates regarding admissions, study materials, assignments, and counseling sessions through SMS. Regular guidance sessions are organized, especially for students of Library and Information Science.

BAOU follows the Open and Distance Learning (ODL) system, allowing learners to study at their own pace and convenience. The university primarily caters to women (especially homemakers), working professionals, rural youth, socially and economically disadvantaged groups, Divyangjan, and prison inmates. It promotes inclusive and lifelong learning through affordable fees and flexible education.

The study centre has shown consistent growth in enrollment. Student strength was 3,097 in 2022, 3,449 in 2023, 3,363 in 2024, and 2,920 in 2025. Many students have excelled academically and received Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals in various convocations.

The BAOU Study Centre plays a vital role in expanding access to higher education in the region by offering flexible, affordable, and quality programmes to diverse sections of society.
