National Service Scheme (NSS)

The National Service Scheme (NSS) is a flagship program of the Government of India, launched on 24th September 1969, with the motto “Not Me, But You”. It aims to develop the personality of students through community service and nation-building activities. The NSS symbol, inspired by the Rath Wheel of the Konark Sun Temple, represents constant readiness for social service.

At R. R. Mehta College of Science and C. L. Parikh College of Commerce, Palanpur, the NSS unit actively engages students in various social, environmental, and health-related activities throughout the year. The unit plays a vital role in creating socially responsible and aware citizens.

NSS volunteers regularly organize tree plantation drives, campus and community cleanliness campaigns under Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, blood donation camps, health awareness programs, and rallies on important social issues such as gender equality, voter awareness, road safety, and anti-drug campaigns.

The unit also conducts a Special Seven-Day Camp in nearby rural areas, where volunteers undertake developmental activities like village cleanliness, literacy programs, and community interaction to understand and address rural challenges.

The NSS unit has brought pride to the college with notable achievements. Shri Dilip Purohit has received the prestigious National NSS Award, while volunteers Meet Purohit and Dinesh Chaudhary were selected for the prestigious Republic Day Camp (RDC) Parade at the national level.

Through its meaningful activities and dedicated volunteers, the NSS unit continues to inspire students towards selfless service, leadership, and active contribution to society and nation-building.
